Geneva 2010: Seat IBE Concept

IBE Concept, is the latest creation from Seat and will be unveiled tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show and is set to show us the design lines of the upcoming cars from the Spanish manufacturer.


In addition to the 2+2 coupe EV, the VW-owned company is also said to be working on a petrol/electric hybrid based on the next Volkswagen Golf platform. A Seat Leon plug-in hybrid is also planned for release in 2014.


The new Seat IBE Concept is a fully electric car and will carry a 102 hp engine capable to deliver a maximum torque of 18 kWh. This means that the car will borrow the same engine from the A1 e-Tron, set to make its official debut at the same Geneva show. Regarding its performances the car will be capable to sprint from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, to 80 km/h in 6.3 seconds and to 100 km/h in 9.4 seconds. Unfortunately these are the only details available for the moment but stay tuned.


At Geneva, the IBE Concept was shown with a 75-kiloWatt (101-hp / 102-PS) motor that produces up to 200Nm (147 ft-lb) of torque. The car sprints to 50 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and 100 km/h in 9.4s. The 3.78-meter long coupe weighs 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs).

Geneva Motor Show: New Seat Ibiza ST

At Seat, FR stands for Formula Racing. But that was not exciting enough for the JE DESIGN engineers. They turned the new Seat Leon FR into a real sports car which has significantly gained power and also shows it.


The Seat two-litre petrol engine produces 211 hp (155 kW) in the serial model. Due to an optimisation of the control unit, JE DESIGN increases the performance of the TFSI-engine by a good quarter to 270 hp (199 kW). The maximum torque leaps from 280 to 355 Newton metres. Instead of 7.1 seconds, the JE DESIGN-Leon reaches the 100 kph barrier in already 6.2 seconds. JE DESIGN offers the performance enhancement for 1499 Euros including VAT, assembly and a one-year warranty.
Also the Diesel engine becomes brawnier after JE DESIGN engineers put the finishing touches on their work. The additional electronics Can-Tronic boosts the two-litre TDI from 170 hp (125 kW) to 204 hp (150 kW) and the maximum torque from 350 to 380 Newton metres. Therefore the sprint from 0 to 100 kph is reduced from 8.2 to 7.6 seconds. The price is 1339 Euros and also includes VAT, assembly and warranty.


The Leon FR by JE DESIGN proudly presents this newly acquired power with bold headlight blends (89 Euros), LED daytime running lights (299 Euros) and its aerodynamics pack. The front spoiler with the double lip (279 Euros) draws the vehicle to the road. The side skirts (299 Euros) calm down the air flow which derives from the new rear skirt attachment (299 Euros) and the centre diffuser attachment (99 Euros) at the rear. There, the end muffler with its mighty four-pipe system (899 Euros) unmistakably confirms that this is no serial Seat.
By lowering the vehicle, the car receives a sportier look and a better handling at the same time. Owing to the lowering springs (159 Euros), the Seat is 35 millimetres closer to the road. And as if the refinement of the engine and the exterior were not impressive enough, JE DESIGN additionally enhances the interior. Seats, door linings and the centre armrest are all wrapped in noble leather (1599 Euros). Thereby, the colour combination between leather and stitches can be chosen without any additional charges. A two-stage seat heating (379 Euros) is offered as well as an adjustable lordosis support (319 Euros). But the highlight of the interior refinement is not visible: the driver and the passengers can indulge in the luxury of the massage system in the seats which offers twelve programmes (429 Euros). LEON CUPRA R: SEAT'S HOTTEST EVER HOT HATCH IS HERE!

SEAT is preparing to unveil its most potent model to date with next month's Frankfurt Motor Show debut of the awesome new Leon Cupra R.

The influential German show, opening to the public on 17 September, will see the official debut of the SEAT Leon fleet's stunning new flagship which boasts a brutally powerful 265 PS 2.0 TSI turbocharged petrol engine.

Instantly becoming the most muscular production model ever to wear the trademark SEAT 'S', the forthcoming Leon Cupra R matches the power output of the title-winning SEAT Leon TDI World Touring Car.

Naturally, the new Leon's 265 PS direct injection 2.0 TSI engine is the star of the show boasting not only tremendous power, but also easy torque transmission and remarkable flexibility. Among the four cylinder 16V unit's key features is a new, high-pressure fuel pump injector to satisfy its greater performance demands while also allowing it to fully comply with strict EU5 emissions standards.


Transmitting that urge to its driven front wheels, the Cupra R is capable of prodigious performance. The zero to 62 mph time, for instance, is a formidable 6.1 seconds, while the top speed of 155 mph is comfortably adequate. All this, and yet the new SEAT's combined fuel consumption figure is put at just a shade under 35 mpg.

Inside and out, the exclusive nature of the Spanish maker's new model is obvious to the enthusiast thanks to the distinctive letter 'R' on the central grille and at the lower right of the hatch. Straight at the market introduction of the most sporty Seat Leon, JE DESIGN turns the Cupra from a sportsman into an untameable racing machine. As already with the standard Leon, JE DESIGN emphasises the agile character of the Spaniard. Thereby, the refiner from Leingarten, Germany does not only limit its modifications to the entirely new aerodynamics kit, but also increases the performance, advances the sound and improves the interior.

Where Seat acts restrained on the sporty abilities of the new model, the JE DESIGN Cupra significantly shows its talent. The front spoiler with the enormous inlets (319 Euro including VAT) and the headlight masks (89 Euro) look ahead in a fierce way. With the new side skirts (two-part set for 299 Euro), the Cupra already presents its agility when it is still parked. The rear skirt attachment left and right (299 Euro) and the centre diffuser insert (99 Euro) as well as the mighty rear wing (459 Euro) with the sunk-in JE DESIGN logo leave no doubt: this Seat is serious about it.


The vehicle turns into an absolute eye-catcher with the LED-daytime running lights (299 Euro) in the Dark-Line Design which are perfectly integrated into the front side blends above the fog lights.
But JE DESIGN has not only given the Leon Cupra a sporty shell. The Seat has actually also turned much more powerful. JE DESIGN increases the performance of the TSFI engine from 240 hp (177 kW) to 285 hp (210 kW). The maximum torque rises from 300 to 385 Newton metres. The according curve behaviour is achieved by lowering the car and equipping it with new wheels. With a coilover suspension it is possible to bring the car body 40 millimetres closer to the road. The wheel houses are filled with the Design Multispoke wheel. The 19 inch large, glossy black rims with a silver edge hold high-performance tyres in the dimension 225/35 R 19 (complete wheel set for 2,930 Euro).


As untameable and sporty the Cupra from JE DESIGN is, the interior is equipped with luxury and comfort for the driver. JE DESIGN offers the leather equipment Elegance for 1,599 Euro. The colour combination between leather- and seam can be freely chosen without any surcharge. If desired, the refiner embroiders and individual logo (79 Euro) on the front backrests. For highest travel comfort, there is also the two-level seat heating (379 Euro), the electrically adjustable lordosis-support for back-protecting travelling (319 Euro) and the massage system that works very silently with twelve programmes (429 Euro).
JE DESIGN presents the new Cupra in a version which resembles the racing model of the World Touring Car Championship WTCC. At the same time, the drivers sits in a comfortable cock-pit which is lavishly lined with leather- and luxury equipment.

Volkswagen Releases New Small Family in Slovakia

The FINANCIAL -- Europe's largest carmaker, Volkswagen, has set its course for the future. Yesterday, a decision on the production location for the future New Small Family was taken.

Four brands are already produced successfully under one roof at our plant in Bratislava today," said Professor Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft.


This investment is certainly a leap of faith in favor of Volkswagen Slovakia. VW SK company rep Andreas Tostmann said, "I'm happy about the confidence that has been shown in the Slovak plant." TASR quoted him as saying, "We're well equipped to produce such progressive vehicles as new small family cars thanks to our qualified and motivated workers."


The first study of these economical city cars made its world debut at the 62nd International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in 2007. The second version with its smart space concept followed only a few weeks later at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. 20 months after the presentation of the first study, Volkswagen has now laid the foundations for the production of the future New Small Family.


Presumably, these New Small Family cars are based on the Volkswagen up! concepts. The plant will initially be responsible for building new three-door and five-door models for Volkswagen, Seat, and Skoda, according to a press release. These cars should be available for purchase by 2011.

2009 Seat Leon and Altea facelift

SEAT unveils new Twin Drive Leon prototype hybrid

The SEAT Leon Ecomotive was a Leon that had been picked over and removed of many inefficiencies in order to deliver a frugal 3.7 liters/100 kilometers (63 miles-per-gallon) as well as lower CO2 emissions. Seat Exeo First Video & Photos

The new(ish) Seat Exeo sedan was unveiled in the presence of the world's media for the first time last week at the Paris Motor Show. It is based on the previous generation Audi A4 platform which began life back in 2001, meaning this is little more than a re-badged model. However we shouldn't forget the 2001 Audi A4 played a strong role in bringing the premium brand to where it is today and it would be premature to say the same platform couldn't help Seat make similar strides in the industry.


Pricing will start in the region of €22,000 for the base Reference trim level, there will also be Stylance and Sport trim levels available but specifications and equipment details are yet to be released. What has been released however is this new video showing a little driving footage of the new Seat Exeo along with a short exert of beauty footage.


At launch there will be a choice of six engines, all of which meet the strict Euro-5 emissions standards. Three pretol engines bless the Exeo with power output ranging from 102HP (75kW) to 200HP(147 kW), the remaining diesel options generate between 120hp (88kW) and 170HP (123kW).

Seat Leon Facelift Spied

Although the heavy camouflage might suggest that this is the all-new third generation Seat Leon, it's actually the mid-cycle facelift of the Spanish mid-class hatch, likely to make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The body kit consists of a front bumper fascia with new LED daylight running lights, grille, headlamp lens strips, side skirts and newly designed rear bumper fascia skirt attachment which accommodates four 90mm exhaust pipes.


VW Group tuning specialists JE Design have gone ahead and developed a fourth, no wait, fifth aerodynamics body package for the Seat Leon. Still closely resembling the base Leon P1 kit (non-Cupra, FR & wide body), the German tuning expert now offers a carbon fiber look adhesive film in various colors.


New 19-inch multispoke wheel-set, 4-piston brakes and coilover suspension capable of lowering ride height from 35mm to a ground scraping 65 mm round out the package. See press release below for full details.


Under the hood, JE Design is offering a new power increase via engine management upgrade that bounces the standard 103 kW (140 hp) up to 130 kW (176 hp). Torque also increases by 85 Nm to 405 Nm.

benzs-Seat Ibiza ECOMOTIVE Headed for Paris

The ECOMOTIVE will be available in both the SportCoupe (three-door) and five-door versions, it features an 80hp 1.4 TDI engine fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which not only helps the afore mentioned emission levels but also reduces fuel consumption as well. The ECOMOTIVE also benefits from slight modifications to the gear ratios, a set of new 14 inch wheels and similar to the previous generation, a weight saving measure that removes the spare tyre and replaces it with an antipuncture kit. Aerodynamic modifications also help contribute to the low fuel consumption with a new closed front grille and rear spoiler.


Last week we revealed to you the first images and details of the top of the range Seat Ibiza CUPRA, now at the other end of the green spectrum we can now reveal the Ibiza ECOMOTIVE. The model will offer the lowest emissions in its segment with a figure of just 99g/km blowing much of its competition away.


Full fuel consumption figures are yet to be announced, we are likely to have to wait until its full unveiling at the Paris Motor Show alongside the CUPRA model.
